William “Bill” Emerson Raines            William “Bill” Emerson Raines, age 80, of Moorefield, WV, passed this life on Friday, August 12, 2011 at his residence. Born on September 28, 1930 in Moorefield, WV, he was the son of the late Calvin Jackson Raines and Jessie Belt Raines.            He was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve Thomas Raines in October, 2000. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.      Bill is survived by his wife, Nellie Boswell Thomas Raines of Moorefield, one daughter, Debra Ray of Milton, WV, one son, William Emerson Raines, Jr. of Barboursville, WV, one stepson, Dr. Larry W. Thomas of Bel Air, MD, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.      Bill served in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1950, was a retired printer from the Columbus Dispatch Newspaper, and  was a member of the American Legion and the Duffey United Methodist Church of Moorefield, WV.       The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV.  A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. William R. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV. Arrangements are under the direction of the Elmore Funeral Home.
