Margaret Patricia Prouty
Margaret Patricia Prouty, age 93, of Ruther Glen, VA, formerly of Moorefield, WV,
passed this life on Friday, November 30, 2007 at her residence. Born on February 14,
1914 in Dott, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Preston Jennell and Margaret
Simkins Jennell.
Ms. Prouty was preceded in death by five sisters and eight brothers, making her the
last member of her immediate family.
Ms. Prouty is survived by one daughter, Betty M. Hughes of Petersburg, WV, and one
son, Woodrow L. “Woody” Prouty of Ruther Glen, VA. She is also survived by eight
grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
Ms. Prouty was a member of the Old Fields Baptist Church and retired from the Tri-
County Thrift Shop. She was also a member of the Durgon Chapter Extension
Homemakers and a member of the Salvation Army for 26 years in Fredericksburg, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007 at the
Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV. A service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Longbon officiating.
Burial will follow at the Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, LaFayette Boulevard,
Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
