John Milton Carl, Jr.
John Milton Carl, Jr., age 88, of Moorefield, WV passed this life on Tuesday,
January 9, 2007 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, WV. Born on
February 6, 1918 in Washington, DC, he was son of the late John M. Carl Sr. and
Anna Clark Carl.
Mr. Carl was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
John is survived by his wife, Doreen Pearse Carl of Moorefield. Also surviving
him are four daughters: Doreen Mary Carl of Richmond, VA, Pamela Gawrych of
Lineboro, MD, Patricia Ann Neumann of Chaptico, MD, Francine Carl of Annapolis,
MD, two sons: Robert James Carl of Romney, WV, John M. Carl III of Winchester,
VA, two sisters: Ruth Hartman and Doris Maldoon, both of Sarasota, FL, a brother,
Francis Carl of Hillcrest Heights, MD, seven grandchildren, and three great
grandchildren.
Mr. Carl served in World War II in the 2nd U. S. Armoured Division, was retired
from the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC, and was a member of the
Epiphany Catholic Church in Moorefield.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, January 12,
2007 at the Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Epiphany Catholic
Church in Moorefield with Father Giles Le Vasseur and Father Richard Hite
officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Fisher, WV.
