John Max Hammond
John Max Hammond, age 75, of Moorefield, WV, passed this life on Friday, August 28, 2009, at his residence.
Born on June 15, 1934, in Ansted, WV, he was the son of the late Don Stanley Hammond and Phala Legg Hammond
Perkins.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Bergdoll Delawder Hammond of Moorefield, WV; a step daughter, Melody Van
Meter and her husband Raymond Van Meter; a step grand son, Tyler Scott Wilson; a step granddaughter, Marcella
Renee Wilson, and their father Michael Wilson. He is also survived by two brothers, Gene Hammond and his wife
Janet of La Belle, FL, and Jim Hammond and his wife Sylvia of Ormond Beach, FL; two nephews, Scott Hammond and
his wife Kathy of Shapsburg, GA, and Todd Hammond and his wife Christine of Ormond Beach, FL; one niece,
Barbara Jackson and her husband Jeremy Jackson of Houston, TX; three grand nephews, Matthew and Mark
Hammond, and Dakotah Jackson.
John was a retired truck driver, and attended Baker’s Chapel United Methodist Church at Durgon.
The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at the Elmore Funeral Home in
Moorefield, WV. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. also on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the funeral
home with Pastor Judy Vetter and Pastor Danny Sterns officiating. Burial will follow at the Olivet Cemetery in
Moorefield, WV.
