Gladys Virginia Tenney
Gladys Virginia Tenney, age 91 of Orlando, FL., formerly of Moorefield, WV, passed this life
on Friday, September 26, 2008 in Orlando, FL. Born on May 23, 1917 in Hampshire County,
she was the daughter of the late Oliver Raymond Landes and Laura Bean Landes.
Mrs. Tenney was preceded in death by her husband, James Alladin Tenney in 1978. She
was also preceded in death by her son, Harman Keith Tenney, one sister, Elva Landes, and
one brother, Oliver Raymond Landes, Jr.
Mrs. Tenney is survived by her loving son, James Newlon Tenney and his wife, Barbara, of
Sorrento, FL., two sisters, Viola (Becky) Haines of Fort Ashby, WV, Mary Delores Frye of
Greenspring, WV, one brother, Emory Scott Landes of Greenspring, WV, nine grandchildren,
numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Tenney was retired from the West Virginia Area Agency on Aging, charter member of
the Moorefield Moose, and member of the Moorefield American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. She
had been a member of the United Methodist Church of Moorefield, WV, a member of the Bible
study group at College Park Towers and was active in their volunteer group.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the
Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV with Pastor Danny Sterns officiating. The family will
receive friends two hours prior to service. Burial will follow at the Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield,
WV. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
