George Taylor “Bud” Leatherman II

George Taylor “Bud” Leatherman II, age 88, of Old Fields, WV passed this life on Monday,
December 17, 2007 at the E.A. Hawse Continuous Health Care Center in Baker, WV. Born
on June 13, 1919 in Old Fields, WV, he was the son of the late Albert R. Leatherman and
Amber Taylor Leatherman.
   
   Mr. Leatherman was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Rebecca Kathryn
Leatherman, one son, Albert Leatherman III, two sisters, Helen Leatherman, Katherine
Weese, one brother, John Leatherman, and one grandson-in-law, William Baird Mead.
   
   Mr. Leatherman is survived by his wife, Nellie Ours Leatherman of Old Fields, WV, whom
he married on December 6, 1940. He is also survived by one daughter,  Elizabeth “Betty”
Bosley, and son-in-law, James “Jim” Bosley, one son, George T. Leatherman III, and
daughter-in-law, Miriam Leatherman, all of Old Fields, WV, five grandchildren, Albert
Leatherman II, Julie Bosley Mead, Jody Bosley Morgan and husband, Jeff, Eva
Leatherman, Sarah Leatherman,  four step grandchildren, Gretchen Creamann, and
husband, Stephan, Jason Riley and wife, Mary Ann, four great grandchildren, Baird Mead,
Brooks Mead, Jack Morgan, and Emma Creamann.
  
    Mr. Leatherman, a retired farmer, received his diploma from Augusta Military Academy
of Fort Defiance, Virginia in 1939, where he was captain of the football and baseball
teams; he also joined the Old Stone Church at Augusta, then later transferred his
membership to the Moorefield Presbyterian Church, where he served as a superintendent
and secretary of Sunday School, a Deacon, an Elder, and a member of the Men’s Bible
Class. Mr. Leatherman was a past patron of the Moorefield Chapter Eastern Star, member
of the Moorefield Masonic Lodge #29 for 50 years, where he had served as past master;
he was also a shriner from Osiris Temple in Wheeling, WV. He served several years as a
member of the Olivet Cemetery Committee, was past member of the Hardy County Farm
Bureau, and was a great sports fan of the New York Yankees and Tiger Woods.
   
   The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the
Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Moorefield Presbyterian Church with Pastor
Katherine Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV.
