Frances “Fran” Barbara Patterson
Frances “Fran” Barbara Patterson, lovingly known as “Mom Fran” of Daytona Beach, FL., formerly of
Moorefield, WV, passed this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Avanti Extended Care in Ormond
Beach, FL. Frances was born on November 25, 1918 in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada and lived for
many years near Smith Falls. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas Conners and Julia Anne
Coules Conners.
Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her husband, Carol A. “Pat” Patterson on June 21, 1981.
Mrs. Patterson is survived by two sons, David A. Patterson of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, J. Michael
Patterson of Daytona Beach, FL., three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Fran worked in Ottawa during World War II where she met C.A. Pat Patterson in a church choir. Fran,
Pat and their two sons, David and Michael moved to Intervale, New Hampshire in 1953, where Fran and
Pat were co-owners of Castner’s Camps with Al and Sally Crandall until 1955, then the family moved to
North Conway, New Hampshire. In October of 1959, they moved to Moorefield, WV where Pat accepted a
position as an accountant at what was then known as Raygold Manufacturing Company. Fran and Pat
bought the house on Chipley Lane in 1960 from Mrs. C.B. Allen, and Fran lived there with Pat until he
died in 1981. They both attended Duffey Memorial Methodist Church in Moorefield, WV, where Pat was
the organist until his death. Fran maintained the house on Chipley Lane until May of 2004, then she
relocated to Daytona Beach, FL and resided there until her recent death.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Elmore Funeral
Home in Moorefield, WV. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11,
2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Craft officiating. Burial will follow at the Olivet Cemetery in
Moorefield, WV.
