Alice Virginia Vance
Alice Virginia Vance, age 65, of Purgitsville, WV passed this life on Tuesday,
December 11, 2007 at her residence. Born on February 24, 1942 in Purgitsville,
WV, she was the daughter of the late George Stanley Haggerty and Louise
Kelley Haggerty.
Mrs. Vance was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Bruffey of Fairfax, VA.
Mrs. Vance is survived by her husband, Ronald H. “Bud” Vance of
Purgitsville, WV. She is also survived by one son, Kenny William Vance and
wife, Cindy of Purgitsville, two grandchildren, Brandy Vance and Holly Vance,
two foster sons, Tyson Saville and Tyler Saville, all at home. Also surviving her
are three sisters, Shirley Sherman of Moorefield, WV, Patty Clay of North
Carolina, Denise Pratt of Winchester, VA, two stepsisters, Henrietta Sions and
Patricia Butler, both of Purgitsville.
Mrs. Vance was a member of the Moorefield Presbyterian Church and was
retired as a food inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007
at the Elmore Funeral Home in Moorefield, WV. A funeral service will be held at
11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007 at the funeral home with Pastor
Katherine Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Elijah High Cemetery in
Purgitsville, WV.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Elmore Funeral Home in
Moorefield, WV.
